The Guyana Geology and Mines Commission wishes to advise all mining, exploration, research, and related entities that, effective August 1, 2026, a Service Fee for the Examination and Sealing of Geological Samples for Export will be implemented by the Geological Services Division.
This fee will apply to all geological samples submitted for examination, verification, and sealing prior to export. The applicable fees are as follows:
| Container Type | Fee per Container (GYD) |
| Small containers, e.g. plastic boxes, sample bags, small cases | $1,500 |
| Standard pails, e.g. 5-gallon buckets | $2,500 |
| Coolers, medium to large | $3,500 |
| Wooden crates | $5,000 |
| Shipping containers | $15,000 |
Please note that requests for the examination and sealing of geological samples must be submitted to the Geological Services Division at least forty-eight (48) hours prior to the required sealing date. Requests requiring priority or same-day processing may be considered on a case-by-case basis, subject to staff availability and operational constraints. Approved expedited requests will attract an additional 25% surcharge on the applicable standard service fee.
All applicable fees must be paid prior to the examination and sealing of samples. Proof of payment must be presented before services are rendered.
For further information, please contact the Geological Services Division.
