The Ministry of Public Works is Guyana’s engineering, sea, and technical oversight body that holds responsibility inclusive of planning, creation, and maintenance of major public civil works and infrastructure (main road networks and sea defence system) throughout Guyana.  These infrastructures protect life and property, support the movement of people, goods, and services, and promote economic growth.

Relationship With Ministry of Public Works

An important aspect of the GGMC’s role is to promote mining. This involves making access to mining lands in the hinterland. The GGMC assists and coordinates with the Ministry of Public Works in maintaining interior roadworks for continued and convenient travel with supplies and human resources to mining operations.
